The first option is using your computer or various other devices to run a Neo Geo emulator and load it up with ROMs. If you're a 'Neo Geo junkie' and can't afford an actual Neo Geo system, your best solution is emulation and there are a few ways to go about it. May be not as expensive as a Neo Geo, but certainly way more than a Super Nintendo and even more than a Megadrive and Mega CD) but it's worth mentionning it.
#Neogeo on snes classic Pc
(try to find a PC engine + the CD-rom + the Arcade card. Sure it's not as easy to get and probably the most expensive.

and even some arcade ports (not Neo Geo ones, tho) such as Street Fighter II which are impressive considering the limited hardware. not as flexible as the Yamaha FM chip of the Megadrive, but "easier" to program), and Neo Geo ports on CD-rom using the Arcade Card adding more RAM to handle more fancy stuff. (just kidding)Īnyway, I think a good candidate is the PC engine, too.īetter graphics and better sound than the Megadrive on a general matter (more displayed colors at once, variable resolution that equal the Megadrive resolution for most games. The list goes on, more games could have been ported, more sequels made, more oiriginal titles.Įven if the 32X is an add-on and not a game system on it's own, it's still a 32 bits add-on and not a 16 bits add-on. Why not another Space Harrier, Outrun or After Burner sequel with TRUE sprite scaling, CD audio and the bonus of an increased color pallette? (Heck I say the 32X alone should have had this anyway, instead of just rereleases of the originals.

Or even on Neo Geo's front Samurai Shodown with the 32X handling the big sprites, better pallette and scaling with the CD again holding beautifully clean CD quality audio. The Sega CD32X could have had titles like titles like Virtua Racing DeluxeDeluxe, with the 32X pushing the polygons, and the CD holding a myriad of tracks and cars as opposed to the limited selction stored on a cart and CD audio soundtrack in all it's 700MB Glory (or whatever CDs held back then).

Had the 32X ands Sega CD been more prevalent, therefor there being more and better games, I belive the CD32X combo could have deliver some solid gaming especially Neo Geo style gaming as opposed to PS1/N64.
